Antique Yoruba Jewelry

This necklace and earring drops are handmade brass and bead artifacts that you can wear. String the brass hand made beads with the tapered pendant and an earring in the center. Or just wear the necklace as is. It will fit over your head. There are 96 dotted brass beads, all 8mm. The handwork is really impressive. The 1-3/4" long pendant is also handmade with interesting twisted wire lines applied. Some slight damage, it is old. These pieces are historical and one of a kind. 3-piece set of Yoruba artifacts, $125.00.

Sea glass, beach glass, sea glass shards

National Geographic August 2008 has a page devoted to those sparkly pieces of smooth, scoured glass you find on beaches (top photo). They call the pieces sea glass. I always called it beach glass. There is a North American Sea Glass Association (yes there is!), and the president says "we are at the end of the sea glass window". So I am glad I collected & saved mine! I have about 10 pounds of it and now that i live inland, my collection wont be growing. It takes years for glass to get that wonderful smooth crystalline finish and to wash up on a beach. Some of my pieces are in the photo below left. I never found any in red. Lavender is rare but I do have some. But the majority is white or green. I got a metal finding that I can epoxy to the edge to the pieces for hanging. The jewelry design possibilities are endless! You can also drill a hole with the dremel hand drill tool. I saw an art work at a museum that consisted of a single long line of eyeglass lenses suspended horizontally from a fishing line. The lenses moved and shone in the air currents. It was fascinating! So I got the idea to do that with my sea glass. And I will share! You can order sea glass from me. The pieces will be unpredictable in size and mostly pale green and crystal white. Combine them with shark teeth (see below). Avast ye mateys! Another site is selling 5 pieces of pendant size sea glass for FIFTY DOLLARS!!!! Sea glass random pendant size pieces, 5 for $18.99.

Restock of Best Selling Vintage Beads

The faceted fire polish rondel has a color combination that I have never seen, of red, blue, purple, topaz, olivine, and rose, which creates a gemstone effect and from a distance this bead looks almost like tourmaline. Very finely finished, 8mm x 7mm. Much more vibrant than in photo. Czech multicolor rondel, 25 for $15.00.

Unusual Flatbacks for Wire Work & Collage

buddha flatback Here is a well done pressed glass flatback, no hole (you glue it) that comes in a pale transparent pink identical to rose quartz, and a dark blue that is like lapis. The blue one shows all the detail down to the folds in his skirt--he smiles. You can epoxy this to a fancy item such as a handmade box or you can glue a post with pad onto the back to make an earring. The backs are a bit "rough" to make the glue bond securely. Buddha carving, $2.99 each light rose or lapis.
